Bad Karma Airsoft is the largest Airsoft field in the Eastern US. With over 500 active users and a play schedule that runs from "Noob Day" in early March until our Charity game in November, if you are looking for an active airsoft community that is HIGHLY supported in and around Tennessee, then you have come to the right place my friend.
We have a lot of people ask us about the rules for playing on the field. We try to go over as many as we can on game days, but we inevitably leave some out. Here they are in completion. Rules highlighted in RED are "vital" game day rules and breaking them can lead to being asked to leave the field, so PLEASE make sure you pay particular attention to them.
Beginning with the 2012 regular season (March), pleyrs MUST have a signed copy of the rules on file to play on the field. You can find a copy of the rules to download and sign along with the waivers found HERE.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR GAME DAYS
Complete game day rules will be gone over at the safety briefing prior to play but understand that whoever is running the field for a selected game you may be in attendance at may not adhere strictly to every one fo these rules. If a game day host does NOT mention changes to any of these rules, ASSUME THEY ARE ALL BEING USED!
Airosft is a game of HONOR above anything else. We all love to win, but this is NOT an online game where you can be an ass and hide behind your keyboard anonymously on the internet. This is NOT Call of Duty. You CAN NOT CHEAT HERE AND EXPECT TO GET AWAY WITH IT. When you get shot, it is because someone sees you and IS SHOOTING YOU. People know you have been hit and when you just shrug it off and keep playing, you INSTANTLY show everyone around you that you are a CHEATING DICK and people will remember you for that.
By the same token, understand that you are firing PLASTIC BBs. They may look like real guns, but they are nowhere near them. Just because you put half a magazine downrange at someone does NOT mean you necessarily hit them. People who do that then start complaining or hollering "YER HIT! CALL YER HITS!" are almost as bad as the cheating dicks are. Refs will be all over the field and if you feel someone is cheating or doesn't feel their hits, ask a ref to go check them and we will
Winning by cheating is not winning and being "that dick" who thinks he is god on the field and every round he fires downrange is an automatic hit or the one who never calls his hits do nothing but ruin the game for everyone else.
This is your field to play on. The field is not a business. We cannot afford for people to run buck wild and just destroy the place. We expect you to take care of the field while you play on it. Please respect the hard work PLAYERS JUST LIKE YOU have put into making the field what it is.
WHAT DO WE WEAR TO TELL TEAMS APART?
A GREEN or CAMOFLAGUE SLEEVE SHIRT AND A BLACK SLEEVE SHIRT are both required.
We divide into 2 main teams to play on game days, GREEN & BLACK. We tell the side you are on by the COLOR OF YOUR SLEEVES. Because most players wear tac vests of some type, it's hard to tell teams by chest color, so we use YOUR SLEEVES. Camouflage patterns are considered "GREEN" unless they use grays and blacks.
You are required to bring both a shirt with green sleeves and a shirt with black sleeves. You may be required to change teams and if you do not have both colors you will have to obtain the second shirt to play or continue playing. If you show up with a group of friends and there are enough players on the field to keep teams even, then you are more than welcome to play together on the same team. Badkarma Core members and field Marshals reserve the right to determine if your shirt meets the requirements. See the very first rule concerning arguing or disagreeing with a Field Marshal.
Shirts - the only part of the shirt that counts is the sleeve from the shoulder to the elbow - nothing else matters - not your tac vest, not your gloves, not your lower arm. And if your shirt has sleeves that are too short Badkarma Core team reserves the right to say it is not acceptable. Camo patterns count as green unless the ONLY colors are grey, blue, white, and/or black. If your color patterned shirt is confusing as to what color it counts as Badkarma Core members make the decision concerning its acceptability and which team it can be used on. You may still get shot by your own team.
To reiterate, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO BRING BOTH A GREEN SLEEVED AND A BLACK SLEEVED SHIRT
FIELD NORMAL FPS LIMITS
The accepted field FPS limits for all guns in use is shown below. All guns FPS are based on chrono testing with OUR FIELD .25 BBs, not yours. If your gun is shooting OVER these limits, you will NOT be allowed to play with it. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to check your gun's FPS before you get to the field. Chronoe'd guns will be tagged and the tag must remain on the gun for the duration of the day. If a ref spots a gun without a tag or finds a gun that has chronoe'd and has been tampered with, you will be dealt with on the spot. Just because you get your gun chronoe'd. does NOT mean that you cannot be spot chronoe'd later during the day. If asked to be spot chronoe’d you must comply or leave.
NOTE: THESE ARE HARD LIMITS, THERE IS NO CUSHION
AEGs 425 fps with .25 gram NO MINIMUM ENGAGEMENT
SAWS 485 fps with .25 gram MINIMUM 50' ENGAGEMENT
Guns that are faithful recreations of belt-fed firearms qualify as SAWs. This includes (but is not limited to) the M60, M249, MG42, RPD, Shrike, M240B, Stoner, and similar models.
Non belt-fed firearms that are faithful recreations of Military issued squad support weapons may be approved on an individual basis. Usually , if the weapon has a selector switch with a semi setting it will not be determined to be a SAW. In any event, these must be approved by Field Marshals prior to use on the field as a Squad Automatic weapon.
NO MP5's, M-16’s, regular AK-47’s or non SAW weapons with just a box mag slapped on it....that is NOT a SAW.
To be a faithful recreation a SAW must be as cosmetically similar as possible to the original gun. Bad Karma Core Team reserves the right to determine what is “cosmetically similar.” Players with custom guns should direct their questions to the Bad Karma public forum or ask at the field/chrono and must receive approval from a Bad Karma Core Team member before using it at a play date.
SNIPER RIFLES 550 fps with .25 gram MINIMUM 100' ENGAGEMENT
A Sniper rifle is one that can ONLY BE MADE TO SHOOT SINGLE FIRE. If your gun can be switched to FULLY AUTO, it DOES NOT QUALIFY as a SNIPER RIFLE
***NOTE: The minimum engagement distance applies to sniper and saw weapons even if the gun itself chrono’s at or below AEG FPS.
GRENADES, FIREWORKS, SMOKE
CAN WE USE GRENADES OR FIREWORKS?
Grenades ARE ALLOWED as long as they follow the outline of the FIELD APPROVED GRENADE page. ANY GRENADES OR PYRO OF ANY KIND other than that listed specifically on the field approved grenade page MUST BE APPROVED PRIOR TO THE GAME by Badkarma Core team. Your device will be set off in front of everyone present prior to being allowed onto the field and if it is approved, you will be allowed to use it. Because there are younger players present on most game days however, expect your design to NOT be approved on the first try.
Grenades that go off OUTSIDE will not count as any kills unless players decide to call out. We are too busy monitoring the games to determine who was within a blast radius or who may or may not have gotten hit.
Grenades that go off inside SINGLE STORY-SINGLE ROOM BUILDINGS will kill everyone inside.
Grenades that go off inside MULTIPLE STORY/ SINGLE ROOM BUILDINGS will kill anyone ON THAT FLOOR
Grenades that go off inside MULTIPLE ROOM BUILDINGS, NO MATTER HOW MANY FLOORS will kill anyone in the ROOM OR SECTION WHERE IT GOES OFF. WALLS determine what is or is not a section.
Hot and/or Cold burning smoke can be used if conditions allow. This will be decided on gameday by Badkarma Core members
WHAT HITS COUNT?
You should be prepared to get shot a lot, even by your own team and FRIENDLY HITS DO COUNT! All body hits (from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet) count. We discourage head shots but head shots count. Don’t deliberately shoot someone in the head/face, especially from a short distance. If that is all they are exposing however, they are subject to be shot in that area, everyone should be aware.
GUN HITS DO NOT COUNT. EVERY OTHER HIT ON YOUR PERSON OR EQUIPMENT YOU ARE WEARING DOES COUNT AS A KILL HIT
WHAT SIGNIFIES A DEAD PLAYER?
A RED DEATH RAG. A RED DEATH RAG ON YOUR HEAD IS THE ONLY THING that lets other players on the field know you are dead and on your way to respwan.Wearing this while you go to respawn tells other players NOT to shoot you. In 2012 red death rags are a requirement, not a suggestion. If you do not have one you will be required to obtain one to play. If you lose yours you will be required to obtain one to continue playing.
You can purchase your own RED DEATH RAG anywhere. Automotive stores carry tons of them. If you show up to the field WITHOUT a RED DEATH RAG, you will be REQUIRED to purchase one before being allowed onto the field. They are $1 each at the field.
Please be aware that on game days there are upwards of 200 or more players on the field at any given time and just because you have a RED DEATH RAG ON DOES NOT MEAN YOU MIGHT NOT GET HIT WITH STRAY FIRE. If you are dead, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILTY to get out of the way of those still in the fight.
EYE AND MOUTH PROTECTION
SOME FORM OF EYE PROTECTION IS REQUIRED. At a MINIMUM you need ANSI RATED SAFETY GOGGLES/GLASSES but for the younger players, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND FULL FACE MASKS. If you wear only safety goggles, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND A MOUTH GUARD. Once you walk past the green building in the parking lot you are in game play and you are required to keep your eye protection on at all times. ALWAYS keep eye protection on when in the playing field, even if the game has been called as over. Under NO circumstances is anyone to remove their eye protection. If fogged, etc…, call for assistance and remove yourself from the game. Only remove eye protection in the staging area/safe zone or designated safe area. Not wearing your eye protection below the green building (even just to clean them of fog, etc. . . ) is grounds to be sent to the staging area to wait out the rest of the game or have more drastic penalties imposed.
Also, while not required, we do recommend some form of knee and elbow pads. The field is located in Southern Wilson County and it is a rocky place. You will be sore enough from playing at the end of the day. Knee and Elbow pads will help.
DO NOT BE A COMPLETE IDIOT! YOU ONLY HAVE TWO EYES. LOOKING COOL WHILE PLAYING WHILE WEARING CHEAP EYE PROTECTION IS A STUPID WAY TO SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE EXPLAINING TO PEOPLE WHY YOU ARE PARTIALLY BLIND!.
Players under the age of 14 are REQUIRED to have 1 parent or guardian at the field. Guardian can be a sibling that is at least 16 years old. 1 parent or guardian is allowed per group if you carpool together. Said parent or guardian has to stay at the field while the player is at the field. Parents are not required to play and may spend the day in the shade of the parking lot or watch the games. We have plenty of ORANGE vests and spare goggles. Just ask.
NO BLIND FIRING! Players must expose a part of their body to shoot at targets. Blind firing inside a doorway into a building will NOT be considered a kill of anyone in a room if a ref sees it. A player must first ENTER the room before hosing it down with bbs to count.
There are a lot of people with gear all over the parking lot on game days. It is a safe place to leave your gear while we play. There are designated areas of the parking lot that are off limits to most players and their gear. If you are in one of these areas, you will be asked to move your gear. If you are a dick thinking about stealing someone else's gear, WE HAVE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS AT THE FIELD IN PLAIN CLOTHES WHO PLAY WITH US. IF YOU ARE CAUGHT STEALING SOMEONE'S GEAR, YOU WILL BE ARRESTED AND SENT TO JAIL. YOU CAN CALL MOMMY OR DADDY FROM THERE AND EXPLAIN WHY THEY WILL BE PICKING YOUR STUPID ASS UP THERE INSTEAD OF AT THE FIELD.
Do not move props on the field. Idiots who lug cabinets out into the woods will be required to lug them right back where they got them from. Do not remove drawers from cabinets and attempt to use them for cover. LEAVE THEM ALONE!
Do not fire your gun in the staging/parking area. There is an area behind the green building designed to test fire your gun. Don’t shoot the signs in the staging/parking area. This is a rule that should not need to be stated (see the first sentence in this part) but it does. Police yourselves and everyone else in the parking area. If you see someone shooting in the parking area tell them to stop, tell a core member or field marshal and point them out. If you see someone shooting or defacing the signs do the same
Absolutely no real steel weapons on the field during games. Failure to follow this rule will result in the IMMEDIATE BAN of the offending player. LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS PLAY WITH US ON GAME DAYS AND WE WILL NOT HESITATE TO TURN YOUR STUPID ASS OVER TO THEM IF YOU BREAK THIS RULE.
A field waiver/ medical release/ signed set of rules is required for every person playing to be on file at the field. These documents can BE FOUND HERE on the website. If a player is under 18, a parent or legal guardian is also required to sign. There is a place on all three documents that state you can make it official for the entire year so that we can keep it on file so you do not have to bring one to every game.
HOWEVER PLEASE NOTE, that is you show up to another team/ person/ group's playdate, they will require the same three documents for you to play on that date. ON FILE DOCUMENTS DO NOT QUALIFY FOR NON BAD KARMA PLAYDATES!
Injuries are rare on the field but they can and do occassionally happen. The most common injury on the field is BROKEN TEETH. If you do not wear a full face mask, we HIGHLY recommend that you purchase a $7 mouth guard and wear it while you play. Seven dollars beats the crap outta $1200 for a dentist to rebuild your teeth. If you or you see someone on the field injured and need assistance, find a ref IMMEDIATELY. We have trained medical personnel at the field on game days who will be able to assist.
UNDERSTAND FULLY WHEN YOU READ THE WAIVER that Airsoft is a demanding sport. The field is not a business and you are playing AT YOUR OWN RISK, on a field in AS IS CONDITION. We do our best throughout the year to make the field as safe as we can because we play on it as well, but during the course of the year, as people play on it, things can fall into a state of disrepair until we get them fixed. Also, you are playing on rough, wooded, uneven terrain and injuries are to be expected. If you notice anything that could be a safety issue, please let a ref know about it.
If you should become injured while playing, refs will assist you to the best of their ability. There are limited medical supplies on hand at the field. We are not your personal doctors, we do now know your personal medical history or the list of stuff you may be allergic to. Any medical help rendered to you on the field is done PURELY out of GOOD SAMARITAN code of help.
We will do everything up to and including calling an ambulance to see you to the hospital. Once you have left the field, we will return to play and we wish you good luck on your recovery and hope you come back to play with us once you are well again.
For you city slickers, you are playing out in the woods, where real woodland critters live. You are likely to run into some of them. BE ASSURED IF YOU RUN INTO THEM, they want no part of what we are doing. Leave them alone and they will happily scurry on about their way and get out of yours. DECIDE TO MESS WITH THEM AND PISS THEM OFF and you are just asking for it. You have been warned.
AIRSOFT IS A BIG BOY AND GIRL SPORT. NO MATTER WHAT YOUR AGE IS, IF YOU ARE PLAYING WITH US ON THE FIELD, WE EXPECT YOU TO CONDUCT YOURSELF AS AN ADULT WITH SOME COMMON SENSE AND COMMON DECENCY WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYING.
Pay your field dues NOW and be able to reserve up to two play dates at a time on the Field Calendar. Simply put the name of the person you are paying for and hit the big ole' button. Credit Cards ARE accepted. REMEMBER: The field depends entirely on our players to be able to build new buildings, add new structures and keep it all maintained. It's YOUR field, help support it.
